THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start RICCARDO (R A Venniker) was buffeted between WYATT'S CHOICE (T Godden) and SING FOR WINTER (S Moodley), which jumped in leaving the starting stalls. b) In view of the performances of CONTINENTALEXPRESS (C Zackey) (7.60 lengths, 3/1 in the betting) and SING FOR WINTER (S Moodley) (9.10 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) RICCARDO (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Clarke acting on behalf of Trainer G B Puller was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Assistant Trainer M Clarke was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 15h52 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently BANZAI PIPELINE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18.
