Race 3: 4RACING.TV OPEN MAIDEN (For Maiden R15 000 Win Bonus ROA Members)

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY (*DB Geerthsen) and ANCHOR MAN (D Schwarz) were stubborn loading and thereafter jumped slow, losing one length.
b)	GARDENER'S PRIDE (D Ashby) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls.
c)	LORD CAPULET (P Mxoli) was stubborn loading.
d)	SMART VIEW (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls.
e)	CAPTAIN EFFICIENT (M van Rensburg) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length.
f)	COLONEL GREEN (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length.
g)	POTENT CAPTAIN (C Maujean) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	ANCHOR MAN (D Schwarz) raced green.
b)	Shortly after the winning post SWISS WALT (*T Mayhew) took an awkward stride, stumbled badly and dislodged Apprentice T Mayhew. Apprentice T Mayhew was attended to on the course by the paramedics. This precluded Apprentice T Mayhew from being able to weigh in. The Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, were satisfied that SWISS WALT had carried the correct weight. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	As a result of the incident in the pull up area, a number of Jockeys requested to examine this area of the track. A panel was formed which included a Stipendiary Steward, the Veterinary Surgeon, the Course Manager and Jockeys. After the inspection, the majority of Jockeys agreed that racing should continue. Jockey M van Rensburg made a request to the Stewards not to ride for the remainder of the race meeting as he was of the view that the track was unsafe.  The Stewards, after careful consideration, acceded to Jockey M van Rensburg's request even though in, their opinion, the pull-up area was suitable for racing. The Stewards, however, accepted that each rider has the right of choice when it comes to their personal safety and wellbeing. Jockey M van Rensburg was replaced on his rides.
d)	Jockey K Minnie reported that TOP DOLLAR took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
e)	In view of the performance of PETTEIA (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	AQUILA GOLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
