THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RATTLESNAKE (M Winnaar) was slow into stride. b) LA PULGA (G Wright) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being stood down in Race 2, Jockey G Wright was examined by the course Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding. b) The saddle on APPROACH SHOT (C Orffer) slipped back in running shortly after the start. This was confirmed on the video evidence. c) In the concluding stages MANEKI NEKO (A Domeyer) and CONNERY (R Fourie) raced tight when CONNERY (R Fourie), which changed stride approaching the 50m, shifted out and was immediately straightened. d) CONNERY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Woolard, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised.
