THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KINDRED HEART (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) HEY HEY JULIA (R A Venniker), STROOPSOET (D Schwarz) and VALIEVA (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) FAR REACHING (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, HEY HEY JULIA (R A Venniker) and KINDRED HEART (P Strydom), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. b) FAR REACHING (G Lerena) hung in from the 400m. c) In view of the performance of FAR REACHING (G Lerena), (distance 5,50 lengths, betting 13/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.3 in that he failed to vaccinate RULER OF JUSTICE against African Horse sickness in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer P F Matchett signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. Trainer P F Matchett was advised that RULER OF JUSTICE may not be nominated for any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority until fully vaccinated against African Horse Sickness. e) KINDRED HEART (P Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (LK). f) VALIEVA (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
