THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RAIN IN NEWMARKET (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the earlier delay and the various formalities after Race 6. b) MARIA QUEROL (C Zackey) was hanging out from the 300m. c) Jockey A Domeyer reported AMANZIMTOTI did not stride out freely in the latter stages and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the performance of REALLY ROYAL (L Mxothwa) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) PRINCESS CALLA, the winner, which shifted out in the latter stages, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised. (JF) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) G Lerena rode MALEDIMO (Jockey C Orffer stood down by the course medical doctor. Rule 25.12 applies) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) AMANZIMTOTI - examined post-race. Blood in mouth (tooth). Trainer C Bass-Robinson will be advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. b) REALLY ROYAL - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
