Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	LORD SAYE (GB) (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly outwards.
b)	JUAN LES PINS (A Andrews) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, POINTDEXTER (A Arries) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	Jockey C Zackey became unbalanced and lost the footing to his right-side iron, which he only regained at the 1600m when LORD SAYE (GB) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with the front gate of the starting stalls. As a consequence, LORD SAYE (GB) (C Zackey) lost position and raced detached from the field in the early stages.
c)	RED RACKHAM (*B Plaatjies) raced without cover in the early stages and was allowed to race around runners to the front of the field at the 1000m.
d)	Jockey A Andrews reported that JUAN LES PINS felt uncomfortable in its action and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of NOCTURNAL FLIGHT (JP van der Merwe), which was not persevered with in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
f)	LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (TJ)
