Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SAN QUINTIN (M van Rensburg) was examined at the start by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn.
b)	GREAT AFFAIR (C Maujean), LADY TIPTREE (L Mxothwa) and HAROLD THE DUKE (S Khumalo) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	LADY TIPTREE (L Mxothwa) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
b)	Approaching the 100m JUAN CARLOS (R Danielson) was carried in and then had to be steadied when close to the heels of PUERTO PLATA (ARG) (R Fourie), which was hanging in and proved difficult to keep on a straight course. Thereafter, JUAN CARLOS (R Danielson) was directed outwards and into clear running.                  Jockey R Fourie appeared before the Board and was advised that while the Stewards accepted PUERTO PLATA (ARG) proved to be a difficult ride, he should take more care in similar circumstances. 
c)	SOFT TOUCH (Y Ramzan) was hanging in in the latter stages.
d)	The saddle on REACH FOR THE STARS (C Zackey) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward.
e)	Jockey K Minnie reported that he felt something amiss with JOSI MO. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f)	HAROLD THE DUKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
