THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	SOVEREIGN STATE (C Habib) lost 1 length.
b)	AFRICAN SKYLINE (R Fourie) jumped awkwardly and lost 2 lengths.
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL (*S Hlengwa) was hanging in throughout.
b)	Approaching the 100m BEECHAMWOOD BOY (S Moodley) which was hanging in throughout was steadied when close to the heels of SLIM JANNIE (S Khumalo) which had come to the end of its run. Thereafter, approaching the finish BEECHAMWOOD BOY (S Moodley) was tightened when racing in restricted room between AFRICAN SKYLINE (R Fourie) and SLIM JANNIE (S Khumalo), which rolled out. 
c)	Jockey R Fourie reported that AFRICAN SKYLINE took an awkward stride at the 400m and thereafter took no interest in the running.  In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d)	In view of the performances of SOVEREIGN STATE (C Habib) (9.25 lengths, 50/1 in the betting) and BEECHAMWOOD BOY (S Moodley) (10.15 lengths, 14/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
e)	KING OF THE GAULS (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A J Rivalland advised (NS).
f)	QUASIFORSURE (T Godden), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt advised (DS).
g)	HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE (A Mgudlwa), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Zietsman acting on behalf of Trainer A Wright advised (DM).
