THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LAZULI (*R A Venniker) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) ON DUTY (J Mariba) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WALALA WASALA (K de Melo) hung in from the 400m, proving difficult to assist. Jockey K de Melo did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) LA BANQUIERE (W Kennedy) hung in from the 400m. c) LAZULI (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
