THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RADIANT HEAT (M van Rensburg) and VARVARA (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) KEY WORKER (G Lerena) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, HAT'S QUEEN (K A Brewer) was brushed in by MOUNTAIN HIGH (R Fourie), which was carried in by RADIANT HEAT (M van Rensburg), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) AFRICAN BEAUTY (M Yeni) and PARTY PUNCH (J Greyling) hung in from the 400m. c) In the concluding stages, MOUNTAIN HIGH (R Fourie) was steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of VARVARA (C Zackey), which shifted out away from the crop. d) VARVARA (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
