THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UBUKHWEBEZANA (S Veale) was stubborn to load. b) WALKIE TALKIE (S Moodley) lost 1 length. c) MOTHER INDIA (C Habib) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start SUNKA WAKAN (*B Plaatjies) took an awkward stride when brushed by UBUKHWEBEZANA (S Veale) which was carried out by DEE DAY (C F Dicken) which jumped out leaving the starting stalls. Thereafter SUNKA WAKAN (*B Plaatjies) was hanging out around the turn. b) PILOT FLAME (R Fourie) was hanging out from the 350m. c) At the 300m AVERNIAN GODDESS (C Zackey) was steadied when close to the heels of DEE DAY (C F Dicken) which rolled in and was immediately corrected. Thereafter, at the 200m AVERNIAN GODDESS (C Zackey) was switched to the outside of DEE DAY (C F Dicken) to continue its run. d) Jockey C Habib reported that MOTHER INDIA took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) PILOT FLAME (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) UBUKHWEBEZANA raced equipped with ear muffs (advised 02.05.2024/13h54). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) AVERNIAN GODDESS : Brush wound left hind. b) WALKIE TALKIE : Scalped left hind. c) SUNKA WAKAN : Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe. d) MOTHER INDIA : Nothing obvious detected. THERER WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
