THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLACK EGRET (R Danielson) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GIMMEFABULOUS (M Yeni) pulled hard in the early stages. b) Approaching the 300m, LAGUNA VERDE (C Zackey) was carried in by PAISLEY PARK (K Matsunyane), which hung in from the 400m. c) In view of the performance of AUSSENKEHR (C Habib), (distance 14,00 lengths, betting 8/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that DR FAUSTUS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) RICHARD THE FIRST (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MduP).
