THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The tongue tie on MEENEERA (C Maujean) was re-fitted at the start. b) ON THE GUEST LIST (R Fourie) and LADY ZULTANITE (S Khumalo) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KITTY MO was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 13h23 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer K Mitchley was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 13h36 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently KITTY MO was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h46, 20/1 in the betting). KITTY MO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (Dr E Reynders) b) STATE OF MIND (M van Rensburg) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) Leaving the 300m LADY ZULTANITE (S Khumalo) was steadied briefly when unable to secure a clear run between SKY VELOCITY (X Ndlovu) and GET IT DONE (L Mxothwa). d) While attempting to improve into a narrow run between SKY VELOCITY (X Ndlovu), which showed a tendency to hang in and GET IT DONE (L Mxothwa), which rolled out slightly, LADY ZULTANITE (S Khumalo) was accidentally struck on the head by Jockey X Ndlovu's crop (SKY VELOCITY) leaving the 150m. Jockey S Khumalo and Trainer K Mitchley called for a race review regarding this incident. However, after viewing the video evidence and considering the distance of 0.5 lengths between SKY VELOCITY (X Ndlovu) and LADY ZULTANITE (S Khumalo) at the finish, decided not to proceed to a formal objection. e) Jockey R Fourie reported that ON THE GUEST LIST did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey C Habib reported that MAIDEN'S COVE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. g) GET IT DONE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
