THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MANY WATERS (D De Gouveia) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MANY WATERS (D De Gouveia) was hanging in from the 300m. b) GREAT PLAINS (R Fourie) was hanging out in the concluding stages. c) MAKAZOLE (J P v'd Merwe) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. d) In the concluding stages RHYDIAN (C Zackey) was carried out by DARING DASH (*K J Lihaba) which had come to the end of its run and shifted out sharply for no apparent reason. Apprentice K J Lihaba appeared before the Board with regard to this incident. The Board noted that Apprentice Lihaba had attempted to change his crop and that this gelding had made a sharp sudden movement but advised Apprentice Lihaba to take more timeous corrective measures in races in future. e) In view of the performances of MANY WATERS (D De Gouveia) (33.90 lengths, 125/1 in the betting) and WOZA NAWE (K Matsunyane) (10.10 lengths, 9/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) GREAT PLAINS (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
