Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	FIERY DUKE (S Khumalo) jumped slow, losing four lengths.
b)	GIMME'S LADDIE (C Zackey) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start GIMME'S LADDIE (C Zackey), which took an awkward stride leaving the stalls, was buffeted between NO PLACE LIKE HOME (K Minnie) and BETHEL (M van Rensburg), which shifted inwards sharply and had to be corrected.
b)	Leaving the 300m, COOL WINTER (R Fourie) had to be steadied briefly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BETHEL (M van Rensburg), which shifted out slightly away from the crop.

c)	Leaving the 300m, GREY SMOKE (X Ndlovu) was steadied when unable to secure clear running between TRANSACT (KA Brewer) and DONNY TEE (Y Ramzan), which rolled in slightly. Thereafter, GREY SMOKE (S Ndlovu) was directed inwards.
d)	CAPTAIN CASANOVA (C Maujean) shifted out continuously away from the crop between the 300m and the finish. Jockey C Maujean appeared before the Board and was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to prevent his mounts from covering unnecessary ground in races.
e)	Jockey M van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with BETHEL. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding FIERY DUKE (S Khumalo), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 15/05/2024 to 21/05/2024 inclusive). FIERY DUKE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
g)	NO PLACE LIKE HOME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
