THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	RED RACKHAM (S Veale) was restless in the stalls and jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b)	MELA STRENGTH (C Bantam) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	JUAN LES PINS (M Mjoka) and GOLDEN GREY (A Arries) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start GOLDEN GREY (A Arries) was carried inwards by RED RACKHAM (S Veale), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b)	At the 400m JUAN LES PINS (M Mjoka) was directed outwards away from the heels of a tiring SILVOR IDOL (O Noach).
c)	At the 200m, GOLDEN GREY (A Arries) which initially shifted in away from the crop, had to be directed outwards and away from the heels of a tiring RED RACKHAM (S Veale).
d)	Approaching the 100m GREENLAND (R Fourie) and BLAME IT ON ME (X Carstens) brushed. 
e)	AMANCIO (JP van der Merwe) was hanging out in the latter stages.
f)	In view of the performance of SILVER IDOL (O Noach), which gave ground to the field quickly from the 500m and finished tailed off, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
g)	AZZURRI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Woodruff was advised. (DD)
