THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process TOP GUN (C Habib) rushed the front gates, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. The balance of the field was removed from the starting stalls and the starting stalls gates were retested. b) SALT 'N PEPPA (M Thackeray) was difficult and stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start CLIFFS OF MOHER (R A Venniker) and AMIGO (D Daniels) were squeezed out between TURN AROUND (R Fourie) which jumped inwards, and ROYAL ALLIANCE (S Moodley) which was brushed out by ACT OF GENIUS (*B Plaatjies) which jumped outwards. Thereafter ACT OF GENIUS (*B Plaatjies) hung out throughout. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to TOP GUN (C Habib), this colt's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 23.05.2024 to the 29.05.2024. TOP GUN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer P V Lafferty will be advised (SN). c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SALT 'N PEPPA (M Thackeray), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 23.05.2024 to the 29.05.2024. SALT 'N PEPPA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M D Miller will be advised (SN). d) PROFESSOR LUPIN (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
