THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PLETTENBERG (*B Plaatjies) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start LIGHTNING JIMMY (S Khumalo) and INTREPID (A Mgudlwa) came together and bumped. b) PLETTENBERG (*B Plaatjies) raced detached in the early and middle stages. c) In view of the performances of LIGHTNING JIMMY (S Khumalo) (6.95 lengths, 40/1 in the betting) and SHOT OF COURAGE (S Moodley) (6.25 lengths, 17/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) INTREPID (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
