THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HONSHU (C Habib) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) FRENCH IMPACT (K A Brewer) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 300m, FORCE EIGHT (P Mxoli), which was carried in marginally by TURBO POWER (R Fourie), was steadied away from the heels of WHAT A TIGER (S Khumalo), which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that WHAT A TIGER felt awkward in its action in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey C Habib reported that HONSHU made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) FRENCH IMPACT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Sage advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) HONSHU raced unshod (declared 20 May 2024 at 05H07). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HONSHU examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) WHAT A TIGER not striding out behind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
