THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GRIPEN (C Orffer) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLDEN GALLANT (C Bantam) raced wide on the turn and into the straight. b) At the 150m Jockey R Khathi's (NOON DAY GUN) crop was briefly entangled in his reins. c) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SONG TO THE MOON he misused his crop by striking SONG TO THE MOON more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R15 000,00. d) NOON DAY GUN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised.
