THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINNING BEAUTY (*B Plaatjies) became restless in the stalls as the start was effected and thereafter lost 1 length. b) As the start was effected OH YOKO (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly outwards. c) LIGHTINTHEDARKNESS (R A Venniker) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) LIGHTINTHEDARKNESS (R A Venniker) and SUN IN MY POCKET (S Moodley) raced green. b) OH YOKO (M Yeni) was hanging in from the 400m. In view of the performance of OH YOKO (M Yeni) (9.05 lengths and 33/10 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M) in that as the rider of SUN IN MY POCKET he misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R3000 was imposed. d) Apprentice A R Al-Mansouri signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M) in that as the rider of MIA BARCA he misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R4000 was imposed. e) Trainer W Whitehead signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that she failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for the horse SUN IN MY POCKET. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. f) SWEET JULIA (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS).
