Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	On arrival at the start, Jockey R Fourie expressed concern with SLURRICANE's action during the canter past. SLURRICANE (R Fourie) was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.
b)	DAS GUTE (K Steyn) was restless in the stalls.
c)	IN THE BAG (A Andrews) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
d)	STEINBECK (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	SLURRICANE (R Fourie) raced wide on the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, Jockey R Fourie reported that SLURRICANE felt uncomfortable in its action and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
b)	At the 250m GRAND BAY (G Wright) had to be steadied away from the heels of TOUCHDOWN (A Arries) when carried outwards by KEBONALESEDI (C Zackey), which was directed outwards to avoid the heels of a tiring DAS GUTE (K Steyn). 
c)	Jockey K Steyn reported that DAS GUTE raced with its tongue over the bit.
d)	Jockey A Arries reported that TOUCHDOWN, which cast its left front shoe shortly after the start, changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of DEVIL A SAINT (SJ Donohoe), which raced to the front of the field in the early stages and tired quickly from the 300m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding DAS GUTE (K Steyn), Trainer PAW Botha will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g)	KELP FOREST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised. (TJ)
