THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PALERMO (S Khumalo) was stubborn to load. b) ABERDEEN (C Zackey) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start KHANYISA INDLELA (A Mgudlwa) was brushed by FISH EAGLE (c Habib) which jumped outwards. b) Entering the straight PALERMO (S Khumalo) and IMAGINABLE (R Fourie) came together and brushed. c) At the 350m, when attempting a narrow run between WOODLAND GLADE (M Yeni) and FISH EAGLE (C Habib), FISH EAGLE (C Habib) was brushed in by KHANYISA INDLELA (A Mgudlwa), which rolled in. d) Leaving the 100m ABERDEEN (C Zackey) was accidentally stuck on the head by Jockey R Fourie's (IMAGINABLE) crop. This resulted in Jockey Zackey becoming momentarily unbalanced. e) In view of the performances of FISH EAGLE (C Habib) (7.25 lengths) and KING'S ISLAND (S Veale) (6.95 lengths, 7/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) KHANYISA INDLELA (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
