Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANCHOR MAN (K Minnie) was stubborn loading. b) TOP DOLLAR (*B Plaatjies) jumped inwards and made contact with WILLIAM'S LEGACY (S Khathi) leaving the stalls. c) GOLD GUNNER (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Into the first turn at the 1100m, SPECMAGIC (S Khumalo) had to be checked to avoid the heels of TOP DOLLAR (*B Plaatjies), which shifted in. GOLD GUNNER (L Mxothwa), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. b) HAT HOT HAT (D Schwarz) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. c) When questioned regarding his decision to allow STATESMAN to race well in advance of the field in the early and middle stages, Jockey R Fourie told the Stewards that this gelding had sweated up badly before the race and had over raced in the early and middle stages. He further told the Stewards that this horse would probably benefit from a change of equipment used on a race day and may, at this stage, be better suited to sprint distances. Jockey R Fourie's explanation was noted and the Stewards will monitor this gelding's future performances. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine STATESMAN. d) KING'S SAILOR (C Maujean) was hanging in from the 300m. e) Leaving the 100m SPECMAGIC (S Khumalo) was directed outwards and into clear running. f) In view of the performance of HAT HOT HAT (D Schwarz), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) MISTER SPEAKER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) KING OF QUEEN raced with a tongue tie (declared 16h50 on 20240618) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HAT HOT HAT - examined post-race.
