Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	FIRST MASTERPIECE (JP van der Merwe) was stubborn loading and stood awkwardly in the stalls.
b)	TRIED AND TRUE (M Mjoka) was restless in the stalls.
c)	NIGHT VIGIL (L Mxothwa) jumped inwards and made contact with HEAR MY VOICE (D Ashby).
d)	STRATA (M Winnaar) and BECKY SHARP (A Arries) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	LOVE SHACK was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently LOVE SHACK was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h04, 6/1 in the betting). LOVE SHACK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised (Dr E Reynders).
b)	At the 700m FIRST MASTERPIECE (JP van der Merwe) and TRIED AND TRUE (M Mjoka) brushed.
c)	Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with FIRST MASTERPIECE and did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding FIRST MASTERPIECE (JP van der Merwe), Trainer PP Kruyer 	will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
e)	NIGHT VIGIL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SW Humby was advised. (SC)
