THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	FUTURE PRINCE (G Wright) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	PORT LOUIS was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently PORT LOUIS was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 14h17, 11/2 in the betting). PORT LOUIS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (Dr E Reynders).
b)	GOLD POKER GAME (A Andrews) was hanging out from the 300m.
c)	At the 100m COASTAL COMMANDER (A Arries) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the inside of HAT'S PRIDE (K Steyn), which shifted in gradually away from the crop and had to be straightened.
d)	SILVER FALCON (C Zackey) and SACHDEV (S Veale) brushed at the finish.
e)	In view of the performance of ZAPATILLAS which did not respond to Jockey L Mxothwa's urgings in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse.
f)	In view of the performance of LOOK FOR HOUNDS (SJ Donohoe), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	SUGAR MOUNTAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (SC)
