Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) COSMIC CAPTAIN (M Thackeray) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter was allowed to improve around the field to take up a forward position passing the 800m. b) On entering the straight ISORENDER (S Moodley) was baulked for a clear run for a short distance. Thereafter ISORENDER (S Moodley) which had switched in off the heels of ACCUMULATE (*B Plaatjies) to obtain a clear run had to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of SUPER COSANOVA (A Mgudlwa) which had switched out off the heels of COSMIC CAPTAIN (M Thackeray) when improving into the available run. c) KOMANDANTE (*S Hlengwa) was hanging in, in the straight. d) Shortly before the finish ACCUMULATE (*B Plaatjies) was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between KOMANDANTE (*S Hlengwa) and SUPER CASANOVA (A Mgudlwa) which rolled out. e) MC DAZZLER was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 12h28 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer D Kannemeyer was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 12h42 had revealed a level above the international threshold of 36 mmol/L and that consequently MC DAZZLER was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12h53, 5/10 in the betting). f) MOVE TO PROVE (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson advised (DZ).
