THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN ARGO (M van Rensburg) jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) HEY HEY JULIA (R A Venniker) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, KIA KAHA (G Lerena) and BILINGUAL (J Gates) were carried in by GOLDEN ARGO (M van Rensburg), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) At approximately the 150m, GOLDEN ARGO (M van Rensburg) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of AUTUMN VAR (P Mxoli), which hung out from 300m. The Board, after reviewing this incident, were satisfied that Jockey P Mxoli (AUTUMN VAR) had attempted to straighten this filly on a number of occasions, and it was only when he attempted to change his crop over into his left hand that this filly shifted out. Therefore the Board deemed this to be a racing incident. c) Jockey J Gates reported that BILINGUAL changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with SILENT FANTASY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SILENT FANTASY, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer S J Gray was advised. f) KIA KAHA (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee A Mdiyana, acting on behalf of Trainers M/A Azzie, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GOLDEN ARGO was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg (declared 13 July 2024 at 08H07). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SMASHING raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 11 July 2024 at 06H58). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BILINGUAL coughing post race. b) SILENT FANTASY bilateral epistaxis, recommended 120-day suspension (2nd episode). Trainer S J Gray was advised (MB). c) FUTURE DATE mouth injury. d) HANIFAH mouth injury; stirrup rub right hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
