THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODSPEED (D Schwarz) jumped inwards leaving the stalls, losing two lengths. b) CIAN THE CONQUEROR (M van Rensburg) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, losing two lengths. c) WESTERN WISHES (*S Sosibo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 400m, VEGAS HI RISE (*T Mayhew) had to ease when awkwardly placed between BOB (S J Donohoe), which rolled out marginally, and LONGSWORD (G Lerena), which shifted in to avoid running onto the heels of VELDSKOEN (AUS) (K Matsunyane). The Board had adjourned to review the patrol film of this incident. b) An inquiry will be opened to establish why CIAN THE CONQUEROR (M van Rensburg) had to ease at approximately the 300m. c) Jockey S J Donohoe reported that BOB did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of LULU'S BOY (S Khumalo), (distance 19,25 lengths, betting 25/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with BREGARDT in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) PURPLENINJATURTLE (Wes Marwing), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W C Marwing advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BOB not striding out right hind. b) LULU'S BOY examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) BREGARDT bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension.
