THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Fair start.	
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	EUPHORIC was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of 	over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon 	Dioxide 	(TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer JVA Strydom was 	informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that 	consequently EUPHORIC was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 	4.2.18. 	(Withdrawn at 16h06, 10/1 in the betting). EUPHORIC was selected for the taking of specimens for 	analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (Dr E Reynders)
b)	Approaching the 400m HEKNOWS (Y Ramzan) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of GOLD 	FOR AFRICA (S Naidoo), which shifted out slightly. 
c)	Jockey C Maujean reported that SAN QUINTIN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon 	was requested to examine this gelding.
	Trainer E Kaknis was requested to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to 	the stables.
d)	In view of the performance of THEN IN FOCUS (C Zackey), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine 	this gelding.
e)	CATCH THE TUNE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
