Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAZZ FESTIVAL (T Godden) was slow, losing 3 lengths. b) LIGHT OF DAY (R A Venniker) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RELEASE ME (*I Taka) over-raced in the early and middle stages, proving difficult to assist. b) Leaving the 400m TOBACCONIST (C Habib) was eased when close to the heels of BUNTING (C F Dicken) which had come to the end of its run. Thereafter TOBACCONIST (C Habib) was switched in to continue its run. c) At the 250m GLOBAL MOVEMENT (S Khumalo) was eased when tightened between MADISON BLUES (D Daniels) and ATTABOY (*J Botes) which was hanging out in the final straight and shifted out. d) Apprentice J Botes signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of ATTABOY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GLOBAL MOVEMENT (S Khumalo) at approximately the 250m. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days was imposed. (Suspension dates to be advised). e) At the 150m SHOTGUN WILLIE (S Moodley) was steadied in anticipation of the available run between JAZZ FESTIVAL (T Godden) and TOBACCONIST (C Habib) closing. f) In the concluding stages MADISON BLUES (D Daniels) was inconvenienced when close to the heels of ATTABOY (*J Botes) which again shifted out. g) HIAWATHA GOLDBERG (S Veale) was hanging in from the 300m. h) At approximately the 400m Jockey S Khumalo (GLOBAL MOVEMENT) accidentally dropped his crop. i) TOBACCONIST (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) BUNTING raced equipped with blinkers, without cheek pieces (advised 15.07.2024/20h16). b) Apprentice I Taka was the rider of RELEASE ME (advised 17.07.2024/09h21). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. SCRATCHINGS : a) ONE IRISH ROVER : Insufficient recovery time (Trainer - 16.07.2024/08h42). Rule 53.5 applies. b) MOUNT MERU : Reserve runner. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
