THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CALL ME MASTER (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BLACK LIGHTNING (J Gates) hung in from the 300m. b) Approaching the 300m, CALL ME MASTER (G Lerena) was steadied when racing into restricted galloping room between DIMAKO'S JET (M Yeni) and PRINCESS ILARIA (S Khumalo), which was directed outwards away from the heels of CARNELO (P Mxoli), which commenced to hang in. c) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with STRIKING ANGEL in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) SAFE SPACE (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BLACK LIGHTNING raced with a pressure halter (declared 16 July 2024 at 10H30). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) STRIKING ANGEL scalp wound left hind. b) PARKER GETRIX brush wound left hind. c) GREEN SCEPTRE abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
