The start of this race was delayed due to the 30-minute interval between Races 4 and 5 and due to the reasons stated in the Starters' report below. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NATYAM (S Moodley) was stubborn and difficult to load. Assistant Trainer G van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised to re-school this gelding. (SL) THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) PIRATE PRINCE (A Mgudlwa) over-raced in the early and middle stages and as a result raced clear of the field. b) At the 500m WILLOW'S WISH (R Fourie) was carried out marginally by NATYAM (S Moodley) which was switched out away from the heels of JOHNNY THE THIEF (C Maujean) which shifted out marginally. c) MADISON BLUES (M Yeni) and ZAKHO (*N Nastili) were hanging in from the 300m. d) TROIS TROIS QUATRE (*B Plaatjies) was hanging in from the 200m. e) NATYAM (S Moodley) was hanging in and shifted in, in the concluding stages. f) Jockeys C Zackey (PAS DE NOM) and R Fourie (WILLOW'S WISH) reported their respective mounts did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss in the running with JOHNNY THE THIEF.
