THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) DANCING SWORD (K de Melo) over-raced in the early and middle stages without cover and thereafter compounded in the concluding stages. b) Between the 400m and 250m, RAINBOW UNICORN (K Sakayi) was continually baulked for a clear run between the heels of DANCING SWORD (K de Melo) and GOLDEN DELIGHT (*D Geerthsen). Thereafter, when switched in to obtain a clear run, RAINBOW UNICORN (K Sakayi) clipped the heels of DANCING SWORD (K de Melo), which had come to the end of its run, and stumbled. Jockey K Sakayi the rider of RAINBOW UNICORN appeared before the Board with regard to this incident, was severely reprimanded and further advised to take more care when switching in to obtain clear running in future. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that DANCING SWORD made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) BLUE SAILS (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (HM).
