THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN LINK (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly and made contact with MY BEST SHOT (R Fourie) leaving the stalls. Thereafter, GOLDEN LINK (C Maujean) was slow into stride. b) WALT WHITMAN (K Minnie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MAKAZOLE (M Yeni) and SAKURAJIMA (S Khumalo) over raced in the early stages. b) SAKURAJIMA (S Khumalo), which was coming to the end of its run, was momentarily inconvenienced when KINGDUNDEE (C Zackey) shifted out to obtain clear running at approximately 300m. c) GOLDEN LINK (C Maujean), which was held up for a clear run from the 400m, was switched in to obtain clear running at approximately the 200m. d) MAKAZOLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
