THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PETTEIA (S Veale) and SAN QUINTIN (C Maujean) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PETTEIA (S Veale), which over raced in the early and middle stages, raced wide around the field on the first and second turn to obtain a better position at the head of the field in the back straight. b) Jockey D Ashby reported that 'O CAPTAIN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) SLAINTE MHATH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
