Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	On arrival at the start, Jockey C Habib expressed concern with KOMESANS PASSION's action in the canter past. This gelding was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.
b)	MEDITERANEANGODDESS (C Maujean) was stubborn loading. 
c)	PERSISTANCE (E Webber) refused to jump.
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Prior to leaving the parade ring, the bridle on WAR LAUNCH (M van Rensburg) was replaced as it was not of a type approved in terms of the Rules, causing a delay.
b)	The Stewards reviewed the start of this race with regards to PERSISTANCE (E Webber) in stall gate 8. It was confirmed that this gelding had not been impeded, had refused to jump and took no further action.
c)	Leaving the 200m LADY CRUSADE (S Veale) and WAR LAUNCH (M van Rensburg) came together and brushed when LADY CRUSADE (S Veale) shifted out slightly away from the crop and was immediately straightened. Thereafter, LADY CRUSADE (S Veale) and WAR LAUNCH (M van Rensburg) raced in close proximity to the finish line. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward, followed by Trainer SB Kotzen and Jockey M van Rensburg (WAR LAUNCH) entering the Boardroom to review the patrol film. After viewing the patrol film from various angles, no further action was taken. 
d)	KNOCKEMSTIFF (D Schwarz) shifted out away from the crop at the 150m.
e)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding PERSISTANCE (E Webber), this gelding's starting stall 	certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as 	he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 30/07/2024 to 05/08/2024 	inclusive). PERSISTANCE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
f)	WAR LAUNCH, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (HK)
