THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UMHLANGA (L Mxothwa) and MITREDAT (M Mjoka) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TORRES (R Fourie) was hanging out and raced wide on the early part of the turn. b) BRIGHT FUTURE (G van Niekerk) was hanging out throughout. c) The bit on STATED (S Veale), which was hanging out on the turn, pulled through this gelding's mouth. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. d) In view of the performance of UNSUNG HERO (C Orffer), which raced wide on the early part of the turn and gave ground to the field quickly from the 400m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey A Andrews reported that REGULATION made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) STATED, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
