THE STARTER REPORTED:

a) PREVALENCE (A Andrews) jumped slow, losing one length.
b) KEBONALESEDI (K Steyn) threw its head leaving the stalls, losing one length

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a) At the 150m WUGUG (R Fourie) rolled out and had to be steadied briefly when close to the heels of UNICORN ALERT (S Veale).
b) Jockey A Domeyer reported that PRINCE OF TIBET, which changed stride awkwardly at the 250m, felt uncomfortable in its action and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) When questioned regarding the improved performance of DAS GUTE, compared to this gelding's run on 11 June 2024, the only explanation Trainer PAW Botha could offer was that he had fitted ear muffs to this gelding for today's race and that possibly, in his opinion, this gelding may prefer the Durbanville track. The Stewards reviewed DAS GUTE's previous run and were satisfied that this gelding had been ridden on its merits. Trainer PAW Botha was advised that DAS GUTE must be raced similarly equipped in future engagements and that the gelding's future performances will be monitored.
d) DAS GUTE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PAW Botha was advised. (MD)
