Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a) LADY CAMPER (D Ashby) was unruly behind the stalls.
b) ANGELSEA (S Khathi) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a) LADY CAMPER (D Ashby) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led by a Handler, causing a delay. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended.
b) Shortly after the start MY AMI BEACH (*N Nastili) and PITZUCHIM (*DB Geerthsen) bumped. In this incident, the hindquarters of MY AMI BEACH (*N Nastili) were turned inwards.
c) FREE WORLD (D Schwarz) was hanging in from the 300m.
d) Jockeys D Ashby and S Khumalo, the riders of LADY CAMPER and TRUE DESIGN respectively, reported that these fillies choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
Trainers DA McKenzie and GD Smith respectively were advised to report back should they find anything amiss with these fillies on their return to the stables
e) In view of the performance of MARSHMALLOW (M van Rensburg), which was not persevered with from the 150m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey M van Rensburg appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the reason he stopped riding from the 150m. Jockey M van Rensburg reported that this filly had raced prominently in the early stages of the race and, as a consequence, compounded badly from approximately the 200m and he did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. The Stewards noted his explanation.
Trainer WGC Miller was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
f) MY AMI BEACH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Kaknis was advised. (LM)
