THE STARTER REPORTED A) PERFECTLY PUTT, DRENGS FERRY and CHARLIE MCCREEVY were slow into stride. B) CURIOUS was slow away and lost 1 length. C) HIKARU kicked the back gate in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) At approximately the 200m, when racing in tight quarters A THOUSAND TUNES (C Habib) and FLYING PEKAN (G Cheyne) came together and brushed. Thereafter, in the concluding stages A THOUSAND TUNES had to steady momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of IRISH RAIN (M V'Rensburg) which shifted out sharply and was immediately straightened. B) Jockey M V'Rensburg signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse IRISH RAIN more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R1000 fine was imposed. C) The winner CANE LIME 'N SODA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). D) The fourth placed horse FLYING PEKAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer Z Oosthuizen advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) CURIOUS was ridden by Jockey J Mphanya (08:20 - 08/03/2022). B) CAPERNAUM raced equipped with a compression mask (08:48 - 08/03/2022).
