Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BORN READY (G Wright) jumped outwards and made contact with OZARK (M Mjoka) leaving the stalls. b) TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, PRIME VENTURE (G van Niekerk) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced. b) Shortly after the start PRIME VENTURE (G van Niekerk) was squeezed between SUDDEN SONG (L Mxothwa) and BATON ROUGE (K Steyn). c) Approaching the 400m LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING (S Veale) was held up for a clear run and was directed outwards. d) At the 250m NAUSHON (C Bantam) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach), which shifted in slightly. e) KING PELLES (S Moodley) was continually held up for a clear run until approaching the 150m. f) In the concluding stages, TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach) rolled inwards away from SUDDEN SONG (L Mxothwa) and then was bumped outwards by KING PELLES (S Moodley), which shifted out slightly. Shortly thereafter, TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach) made contact with the hindquarters of SUDDEN SONG (L Mxothwa), became unbalanced and stumbled badly shortly after the finish. g) SUDDEN SONG, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
