THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OFF THE CHARTS (M Yeni) and VIEW OF THE WORLD (*B Plaatjies) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly before the finish THE OCTAGON (S Khumalo) was tightened between EL CAPITAN (S Moodley) and VIEW OF THE WORLD (*B Plaatjies) which was hanging out throughout and rolled out. As a result Jockey S Khumalo (THE OCTAGON) was unable to encourage his mount to the finish. b) NATIONAL AWARD (T Godden) shifted both ways from the crop in the concluding stages. c) In view of the performance of UNCLE LUCKY (*K J Lihaba) (29.40 lengths, 50/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 12h18 revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer D Kannemeyer was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 12h26 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 37 mmol/L. Consequently INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12h31, 5/10 in the betting). e) VIEW OF THE WORLD (*B Plaatjies), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) OFF THE CHARTS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 03.08.2024/07h58). b) THE OCTAGON raced without a tongue tie (advised 03.08.2024/10h09). c) Apprentice K J Lihaba was the rider of UNCLE LUCKY (advised 07.08.2024/12h36). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) UNCLE LUCKY : Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe, brush wound right hind.
