THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TROPPO VELOCE (S Moodley) and MOUNT PILATUS (M Yeni) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) POWER BROKER (K A Brewer) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. c) HALBERDIER (*N Nastili) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, RULERSHIP (G Lerena) had its hindquarters turned inwards when bumped in by HALBERDIER (*N Nastili), which in turn was bumped by MOUNT PILATUS (M Yeni), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) In view of the performance of RULERSHIP (G Lerena), (distance 6,75 lengths, betting 8/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) QUANTUM THEORY (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Sage advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) HALBERDIER was ridden by Apprentice N Nastili, who weighed out at 48,1kg, only claiming 2kg of his 2,5kg apprentice allowance (declared 8 August 2024 at 14H47). b) MOUNT PILATUS: Jockey M Yeni weighed out at 51,6kg, 1,5kg over the carded weight as declared. c) QUANTUM THEORY: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 54,7kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RULERSHIP not striding out left front. b) POWER BROKER mild post race distress. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
