Stipes Report
The start of this race was delayed due to the course farrier having to replace the left-front shoe on POWER STAR (A Mgudlwa) at the start. This gelding was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FIREFLARE (M Thackeray) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start TOBACCONIST (S Veale) and FLYINGCOOL (C F Dicken) were tightened between CODE OF CONDUCT (T Godden) and AFRICAN DUSK (C Maujean) which jumped in leaving the starting stalls. b) CODE OF CONDUCT (T Godden) and TRUSOVA (S Moodley) over-raced in the early stages. c) CODE OF CONDUCT (T Godden) commenced to hang out from the 350m and thereafter, leaving the 150m, changed stride and commenced to hang in. d) In view of the performances of TIN CUP (C Habib) (7.10 lengths, 5/1 in the betting) and AFRICAN DUSK (C Maujean) (11.20 lengths, 10/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) TOBACCONIST (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
