Stipes Report
The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AISLING (*N Nastili) was stubborn to load. b) MISS GIBSON (M Thackeray) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the starting stalls PURPLE FLOWER (T Godden), GOLDEN MOMENT (C Habib) and AN AIR OF PRIDE (*J Botes) were hampered between LADYBUG (S Moodley) and AISLING (*N Nastili) which jumped out. As a result PURPLE FLOWER (T Godden) was squeezed out. b) Approaching the 1100m LADYBUG (S Moodley) was eased momentarily when close to the heels of AN AIR OF PRIDE (*J Botes) which commenced to over-race, shifted in sharply and was immediately corrected. Thereafter the saddle on AN AIR OF PRIDE (*J Botes) slipped forward resulting in Apprentice J Botes being unable to assist this filly. As a consequence of the saddle having slipped forward, the lead bag in the saddle was dislodged. Apprentice J Botes's equipment was examined by the Stipendiary Stewards and found to be in good order. An Objection was lodged by the Clerk of Scales in terms of Rule 68.2.11 in that Apprentice J Botes weighed in 7.7 kgs under the weight at which he was declared out. The Objection was upheld and AN AIR OF PRIDE was disqualified in terms of Rule 69.7. c) At the 200m Jockey M Thackeray (MISS GIBSON) accidentally dropped his drop. d) In view of the performance of MISS GIBSON (M Thackeray) (8.65 lengths, 20/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) LADY ELLIOT (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) MISS GIBSON : Nothing obvious detected.
