Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING'S QUEST (A Domeyer) was re-saddled at the start, causing a delay. b) DALMENY FACTOR (R Khathi) was reluctant to load. c) MY ARCHANGEL (G van Niekerk) jumped outwards and made contact with MONTICELLO (C Bantam). d) MR FOX (G Wright) and KONNICHIWA (O Noach) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PHIL THE FLUTER (S Veale) pulled hard in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. b) ON MY HONOUR (D Schwarz) was hanging out in the straight and shifted out between the 150m and the finish. c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DALMENY FACTOR (R Khathi), Trainer AE Sands will be advised to have this colt re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. d) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking MY ARCHANGEL forward of the saddle at approximately the 300m. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. e) CAPTAIN WEST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
