THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WILLIAM THE FIRST (M Yeni) and BETHEL (M van Rensburg) jumped awkwardly. b) LADY CRUSADE (S Veale) jumped awkwardly outwards and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start WILLIAM THE FIRST (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly, stumbled and made contact with SWISS WALT (D Schwarz). b) Shortly after the start BETHEL (M van Rensburg), which jumped awkwardly, made contact with ANUSCHKA'S WORLD (C F Dicken). c) ANUSCHKA'S WORLD (C F Dicken) raced wide without cover around the turn and into the straight. d) SWISS WALT (D Schwarz) shifted out away from the crop from the 350m. e) Jockey C Zackey reported that CONSIGLIERE did not stride out freely in running and he eased this gelding out of the race in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) NOTORIX returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden) g) BETHEL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W G C Miller was advised.
