THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAPANESE MAPLE (Wes Marwing) and RAINY SEASON (K A Brewer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AMERICAN BISCUIT (P Strydom), which raced prominently throughout, tired badly from the 400m. Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with AMERICAN BISCUIT in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer W C Marwing was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of AMERICAN BISCUIT on return to stables. b) In view of the performance of MAJESTIC TOUCH (K Matsunyane), (distance 12,40 lengths, betting 5/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) EIGER SANCTION (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
