THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CORONATION TIME (A Andrews) jumped slow, losing one length. b) GENTLEMAN JOE (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start KING PELLES (G van Niekerk) made contact with the hindquarters of CALL TO UNITE (C Zackey) when brushed inwards by BATON ROUGE (K Steyn). b) BLUE BAY (R Fourie) was hanging in in the straight. c) Approaching the 100m DAIMYO (JP van der Merwe), which was hanging out, rolled out and brushed CALL TO UNITE (C Zackey), which in turn made slight contact with KING PELLES (G van Niekerk). Thereafter DAIMYO (JP van der Merwe) and CALL TO UNITE (C Zackey) brushed at the finish. d) Jockey A Andrews reported that CORONATION TIME did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking DAIMYO forward of the saddle at the 300m. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. f) CALL TO UNITE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Jonathan Snaith, acting on behalf Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (SC) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) C Orffer (GENTLEMAN JOE) rode +0.5kg (56.4kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CORONATION TIME - examined post-race.
